When you interrupt someone, you’re basically telling them that what they have to say is not important or interesting to you. You’re also preventing them from expressing themselves fully and making them feel frustrated. So, unless it’s an emergency or you have something really relevant to add, wait for your turn to speak and listen attentively to what the other person is saying.
- - Don’t judge someone by their appearance. You know the saying: don’t judge a book by its cover. Well, it applies to people too. You can’t tell anything about someone’s personality, character, intelligence, or skills just by looking at them. You might miss out on some amazing people if you judge them based on their looks. So, instead of making assumptions or stereotypes based on someone’s appearance, try to get to know them better and see what they have to offer.
- - Always respect someone’s personal space. Personal space is the area around a person that they feel comfortable and safe in. It varies from person to person and from culture to culture, but generally speaking, it’s about an arm’s length away from someone. When you invade someone’s personal space, you make them feel uncomfortable, anxious, or threatened. So, unless you have their permission or you’re very close to them, keep a respectful distance and don’t touch them without asking.
