1. Never shake a hand sitting down. It shows disrespect and lack of interest. Stand up, look the person in the eye, and give a firm handshake.
2. Protect who is behind you, and respect who is beside you. Whether it’s your family, your friends, or your colleagues, always have their back and treat them with dignity.
3. Never insult the cooking when you are the guest. Even if you don’t like the food, be polite and thank the host for their hospitality. You can always eat something else later.
4. Never eat the last piece of something you didn’t buy. It’s rude and selfish to take the last slice of pizza, the last cookie, or the last beer without asking first. If you want it, offer to share it or buy more.
5. Never make the first offer in a negotiation. Let the other party name their price first, then you can counter with yours. This way, you have more leverage and room to bargain.
6. Don’t take credit for work you didn’t do. It’s dishonest and unethical to claim someone else’s achievements as your own. If you worked on a project with others, acknowledge their contributions and give them credit.
7. Take blame, and give credit when due. When things go wrong, don’t point fingers or make excuses. Own up to your mistakes and apologize sincerely. When things go right, don’t hog the spotlight or take all the glory. Praise your team and celebrate their success.
8. If you are not invited, don’t ask to go. It’s awkward and presumptuous to invite yourself to someone else’s plans or events. If they want you to join them, they will ask you. If they don’t, respect their…
