Did you know that some of the most badass soldiers in World War II were women? That’s right, women! The Soviet Union was facing a huge manpower shortage and decided to enlist women in the army. They didn’t just do the usual jobs like nursing or cooking. They fought on the front lines, sniping enemies, repairing tanks, and even commanding them!

One of the most badass women in history: Lady Death. That’s the nickname given to Lyudmila Pavlichenko, a Soviet sniper who fought in World War II and killed 309 enemy soldiers. She was the most successful female sniper in history and one of the top military snipers of all time.

Lyudmila was born in 1916 in Ukraine, which was then part of the Russian Empire. She grew up in a poor family and had to work as a metal grinder at a factory. She was interested in sports and shooting, and joined a shooting club when she was 14. She also studied history at Kiev University and dreamed of becoming a teacher.

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, Lyudmila was among the first volunteers to join the Red Army. She wanted to be a sniper, but she had to prove herself to the male officers who doubted her abilities. She passed a test by shooting two enemy soldiers from a distance of 800 meters. She was then assigned to the 25th Rifle Division as a sniper.

Lyudmila quickly proved to be an exceptional marksman. She had a keen eye, a steady hand, and a calm demeanor. She could stay hidden for hours, waiting for the perfect shot. She could also change her position quickly and avoid detection. She preferred to work alone, but…
