Imagine for a moment that you were born in the year 1900. When you were 14 years old, World War I started and ended just when you were 18, leaving 22 million dead.

Shortly after, a worldwide pandemic, the Spanish flu, kills 50 million people. And you are alive, 20 years.

At age 29, you survive the global economic crisis that began with the crash of the New York Stock Exchange, causing inflation, unemployment and famine.

At the age of 33, Nazism came to power.

When you’re 39, World War II starts and ends when you’re 45, with 60 million dead.

When you’re 52, the Korean War starts.

When you’re 64, the Vietnam War starts and ends when you’re 75.

A person born in 1985, for example, thinks that their grandparents have no idea how difficult life is, not knowing that they have survived several wars and catastrophes.

Today we have been living with a major pandemic for over a year. We are scared and tired. We lost friends and relatives, we are afraid.

In the past, conditions were even worse, but yes, humanity has survived these conditions and overcome them.

Believe me, better days await us.
